The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association has formally requested Western\'s President to suspend shuttle service for students during the LTC strike.
2 O: ~3 y$ r, q5 g2 M. \4 tThey\'re making the request in support of the London Transit Union which likened the shuttle service earlier this morning to \"union busting\".
+ U' q/ J% E& V4 s% g$ xThe Faculty Association is one of the University\'s largest unions and represents more than 1500 professors and other staff. ) Z' F- ?" b( Q
It had earlier said its members would not cross picket lines if LTC union members decided to protest the shuttle service near campus -- a move which would have left classrooms and lecture halls virtually empty. . S8 ]' o# K" @( A7 Q
The union has since reversed its position and says, in the event of picket lines forming, it would advise its members to cross and report for work. |
