The University of Western Ontario Faculty Association has formally requested Western\'s President to suspend shuttle service for students during the LTC strike.
' v5 X/ k- E) s" d) f' \, k2 KThey\'re making the request in support of the London Transit Union which likened the shuttle service earlier this morning to \"union busting\".
) R6 Q9 f2 G- L& J1 Y% zThe Faculty Association is one of the University\'s largest unions and represents more than 1500 professors and other staff. " f1 B9 l+ H0 y1 q8 M2 A
It had earlier said its members would not cross picket lines if LTC union members decided to protest the shuttle service near campus -- a move which would have left classrooms and lecture halls virtually empty. % t* j, j/ l j8 B
The union has since reversed its position and says, in the event of picket lines forming, it would advise its members to cross and report for work. |
